They were meant to find solutions or answers to an existing problem. Religions were established around 800 B.C.-00 B.C., which was known as the Axial Age. I think human beings are blessed with philosophy, and relgion to live with. I believe we human beings see religion as some kind of philosophy. Dont you think religion is also a way of thinking about how we can live best? And philosophy is all about thinking. So we humans being posses this ability to think and believe, which is a blessing for us.

The first four civilizations to come up with their own religion and philosophy were China, India, Middle East, and Greece. They came up with different solutions to find the answers about everything. India and Middle East beliefs were based on religion, political and social, while China and Greece valued only political and social. China and Greece were identified as non-religious civilization, also known as Secularism. They obtain their answers by thinking. On the other hand, India and the Middle East find their solutions by God and what it says in the bible. I think religion is more influential than philosophy. Religion these days are growing and has been exposing themselves to the telivision, radio, and newspaper.

The creation of hinduism, buddhism, and jainism took place in India. In those religions, they served one or more gods, also called as polytheism. The people who served only one called were called monotheism. Those people originately came from the Middle eastern where judaism, christianity, and islam were born.

Confucianism was very popular around the year 500 B.C. A man named confucious started this great philisophy. When he died his students wrote books about him and his ideas. Confucious was a self educated man, who studied the society to find the answers for everything. The books that Confuciouss students have written for him was all about what their master said. Confucious teachings were about relationships in the family, the society, and the state. He thought humans were between heaven and earth. So if humans behavior becomes bad, then the relation between heaven and earth becomes bad. The relationships in the family were the resposibilites between husband and wife, father and son, mother and daughter, and older brother and youger brother. In the society, relationships were between the old and young, and the rich and poor. In the state, realtionships were between the rulers and subjects. Chinese people used history as a lesson. Educated people were civilized, and uneducated people were not. Confucious also taught his students about moral, gentlemen, and nobility.

They made their own laws and punishments. During the Chin dynasty, legalist were in controlled of china. The way they punished people was by killing them slowly. Mens were to serve the army with no choice. They had to bring their own supplies and food.

Legalism created their own enemy and one of them were the taoist Taoism created stability and social order. The taoism was based of the way of nature. They thought nature has a healing power, so they left their to live in nature. Taoism thinks education creates distinction.

In the twentieth century two key figures stand on top of the tower of tyrannical leaders Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler. Together these two leaders were responsible for more deaths and suffering than most can ever imagine. Their rise to power and their stability of power with their people could have been predicted though. In The Prince, Machiavelli outlined the type of behavior and leadership that is required to govern a country. Machiavelli's book outlines, among other concepts, the use of any and all means, war, and fear in order to rise to power and stay in power. Thus, The Prince should be regarded as a guide to tyranny.

"We are fifty or a hundred years behind the advanced countries. We must make good this distance in ten years. Either we do it, or we shall be crushed." (Joseph Stalin in his speech to industrial managers, February 11). Machiavelli tells us in effect that the end justifies the means. Joseph Stalin accomplished something just short of a miracle in Soviet Russia in the period preceding World War Two. With his 5-year plans for industrialization and modernization, he transformed the Soviet Union from a backwards agriculturalist country to the industrial powerhouse that was able to withstand the massive onslaughts of Nazi Germany. To accomplish this, though, Stalin ordered the collectivization of soviet farms. By 140, almost all peasant and private farms had been collectivized, and private ownership of property had been almost completely abolished. About five million of the wealthier peasants, also known as kulaks, were "deported." No one ever heard from them again. The rest of the peasants were herded into collective farms, stripped of their individual lives, and forced to work the land to pave the way for industrialization. Despite a massive famine in early thirties due to collectivization, Stalin was able to produce enough grain and workers to feed the new and growing industry, and was able to hold off the Germans in WWII. Thus, in the eyes of Machiavelli, in the end the means were justified.

Machiavelli describes the relationship between statesmanship and warcraft in The Prince. He describes that in order to have sound laws, the presence of a sound military is required. He also asserts that successful warfare is the foundation for a successful state, and that successful warfare isn't just sheer overwhelming force, but also diplomacy, strategy, innovation, etc. Adolf Hitler transformed Germany from a destructed wasteland back into one of the most powerful nations in the world. To rebuild his country, he rebuilt Germany's military. His fascist ruling techniques instituted strong laws alongside the newly redeveloped military in a country that was nearly in a state of anarchy after WWI. His military tactics were very successful, with the German "Blitzkrieg" conquering almost all of Europe in a very short period of time. In Machiavelli's eyes, Hitler's successful warcrafting abilities were able to create a strong state and a successful prince.

One of the most stressed of Machiavelli's concepts was that in order to rule effectively and stay in power a prince should be feared but not hated. Joseph Stalin spread fear across his nation. Stalin eliminated opposition, such as Trotsky and Kirov, and used them as excuses for purging millions of citizens into forced labor camps and their own deaths. Kirov's assassination, in particular, was used as an excuse for the Great Terror of the 0's, and the draconian and tyrannical laws instituted by Joseph Stalin during that time period. To help with the elimination of his opposition, the Secret Police, under Stalin's orders, arrested and executed millions of political dissenters. By using extreme fear, Stalin was able to stay in power until his death in 15. While Machiavelli may not have approved of murder on the scale of Joseph Stalin's, this is nevertheless a prime example of using fear to stay in power, and people were too afraid of Stalin to hate him.

Order Custom Machiavelli: Guide to Tyranny paper

So, if Stalin and Hitler were brought to power and stayed in power by the actions outlined in The Prince, then why did they fail in the end? The answer is simple. Stalin and Hitler failed because they strayed from Machiavelli's teachings. Hitler went too far and let personal grievances take control of his power. He became greedy in his warcrafting, and slaughtered millions of Jews because of a personal hatred for them. Stalin simply became hated. His use of fear was taken too far, and by the end, he was more hated than feared. This being said, these two individuals are perfect examples of why Machiavelli's The Prince is a guidebook to tyranny. Had they stayed true to his concepts, there is no telling what the world might be like today. If there is a Hell, along with Hitler and Stalin, Machiavelli is most likely in it.

Order your the ugly american paper at affordable prices with cheap essay writing service! "The simple fact is, Mr. Ambassador, that average Americans, in their natural state… are the best ambassadors a country can have. But something happens to most Americans when they go abroad… feel that they must live up to their commissaries and big cars and cocktail parties." This quotation taken from a conversation between Minister of Defense, Magsaysay and MacWhite basically shows the main point the authors of The Ugly American, William J. Lederer and Eugene Burdick were trying to get across. This main point being that Americans have the potential to be some of the best ambassadors in the world. However, when these same Americans are sent abroad, a transformation occurs in which they believe they are expected to live up to the standard of American luxury, such as numerous servants, large houses, and extravagant houses, negating any chance of completing their duties. The Ugly American goes on to further attack the indolence of the majority of American ambassadors through countless fictional accounts based on true events.

Louis Sears, which the reader meets at the beginning of the novel, is a perfect example of the ignorance of many American Ambassadors. An example of this is his inability to read any of the Sarkhanese printed in a cartoon printed in the Eastern Star, a Red paper. Considering he was appointed as the American Ambassador of Sarkhen, not understanding the language would pose a rather large problem. Another problem revolves around what convinced him into taking the job of Sarkhan's Ambassador. It wasn't because he desired to make a difference or to help drive away the communists that were slowly taking over Sarkhan. The position of Sarkhan's American Ambassador was simply a temporary thing he could take until a federal judgeship opened up in two years. Therefore, it only stood to reason that Mr. Sears would have no real interest in helping out the Sarkhanese people.

Further fallacy in the way America handles its oversea affairs can be found in chapter 6, Employment Opportunities Abroad. One only has to look at how life is portrayed in overseas positions to see the why overseas affairs are handled so badly. During a conference for employment opportunities abroad, a guest speaker, Joseph Bing is bought in to speak about overseas affairs. He starts off his speech by briefly touching upon the duties of working overseas and then quickly switches over to the matter of social affairs, which he holds with much higher importance. He speaks in-depth about how housing is free, food and liquor is inexpensive, and how easy it is to obtain servants. All this that Joseph Bing talks about shows how oversea officials place their own personal interests before their duties.

In conclusion, though Americans have the ability to be some of the world's best ambassadors because of their non-suspicious attitudes, eagerness to share skills, and generosity, these attributes are often clouded by poor selection on the part of the government. Instead of choosing people such as Colonel Killandale, Father Finian, John Colvin, or John Atkins; people who genuinely want to help better the lives of people in less developed countries, the government, sadly, too often chose representatives like Louis Sears, George Swift, and Joseph Bing; people who don't understand the culture and language of the country they are appointed to and only care about their own personal interests.

Our staff of freelance writers includes over 120 experts proficient in i dunno, therefore you can rest assured that your assignment will be handled by only top rated specialists. Order your i dunno paper at affordable prices with cheap essay writing service! Throughout my entire life, every mention I've heard of Julius Caesar has been accompanied by a remark about Brutus, his best friend and murderer. This whole time, I have been thinking that Brutus, in cold blood, murdered Caesar for purely selfish reasons. I was never given any viewpoint opposite of that, and I think that this general bias is what mainly makes Brutus out to be a tragic hero.

Shakespeare's work, Julius Caesar, has been entertaining, teaching, and inspiring people for centuries. It is one of his most famous works, and definitely one of his most respected. In it he gives a narrative account of the days leading up to the death of Julius Caesar, and a few days afterward. These days were very important in history, because they marked the downfall of one of the most powerful rulers of all time. Because of this, people have been blaming the murder of Julius Caesar on Brutus, Julius Caesar's best friend. Until now, I know I have not sought to question this bias, but I feel, after reading this play, that I have been presented with an appropriate means to assess the murder.

Throughout the first and second acts of the play, we are practically beaten over the head with the idea that Brutus is one of the most honorable Romans in the great city, and that he is a very trusted individual. Brutus appears to be a very dignified person, carrying himself with grace, not making any waves, being strictly non-judgmental, and standing up for the people of Rome at all times. He plays a witness to the rise of Caesar while still managing to hold his place in society as a patriarch. He is truly a man of good standing and a worthy role model.

At the beginning of the play, we are also introduced to Caius Cassius, a bitter, vengeful man who believes that Julius Caesar is "too ambitious" and "too powerful," that he may become a dictator and a threat to Rome. Cassius is a very spiteful man, but he is also a coward. He knows that the people of Rome will not be swayed by what he has to say. He therefore decides to form a conspiracy of honorable men, men who will be trusted by Rome, in order to keep Caesar in check. He goes to Brutus, flattering him and telling him that he is just as powerful and dignified as Julius Caesar, and that Caesar is unworthy of the power he has received. He slowly manages to work away at Brutus' values, making it seem like Brutus has come up with the idea of Caesar's downfall on his own. He manipulates Brutus' own house in order to achieve his goals, and manages when Brutus decides to join the conspiracy.

Cheap College Papers on i dunno From the moment Brutus decides to join the conspiracy, the audience is already moved to feel sympathy for him. He is being manipulated by the rest of the conspirators, and he doesn't know it. This dignified man, in good standing with the entirety of Rome, is manipulated into overthrowing one of the most powerful men of all time. In this way, Brutus is dragged down to the level of common criminals, destroying his reputation and ruining him for the rest of his life, however short it may be.

The reasons why Brutus is the tragic hero of Julius Caesar are abound, but a few stick out in particular. First of all, Brutus suffered from a terribly character flaw he was a very weak-willed man. Cassius is able to manipulate him using flattery in many parts of the story, chiefly in Act I, Scene II, Lines -184, and Act I, Scene II, Lines 00-5. Brutus is unable to maintain his dignity when Cassius is praising him with the sweet words he used. This flaw, this incapability, makes him a tragic hero as much as anything else.

The second chief point that makes Brutus the tragic hero of the story is that was not ever in control of the situation. He was manipulated from the very start by Cassius into going against his friend Caesar (Act I, Scene II, Lines -184), and Caesar was not there to support himself. If Caesar were there to defend himself, Cassius would never have had the chance to stick his barbs of poison into Brutus. Brutus' weakness to flattery was not his fault, either; he was born with it. It is an inherent trait, and because of it Brutus was manipulated by Cassius and is not at fault for what he did. For this reason also, he should be considered the tragic hero of this play.

These points are the main ideas of the debate behind the reasons of Brutus' betrayal. He was not able to make his own decisions, because he was born with an inability to withstand flattery. This makes him irresponsible for his crime. In addition, Brutus was a dignified political figure, and through the manipulation that occurred by the conspirators against Caesar, he was pulled down through the ranks of Roman Society until he was at the level of common criminal. The hardship that affected Brutus was just as much or more than the downfall that Caesar experienced, and because of this, Brutus is the tragic hero of William Shakespeare's masterful work, Julius Caesar.

A mesh topology is a network topology that has at least two nodes with two or more paths between them. The advantage is that if a node fails or is busy then there is alternate path traffic can be routed to. The disadvantage is the cost since this requires the extra equipment.

A horizontal bus is when all nodes are connected by a single bus or line. This allows every node to receive every transmission. The disadvantage to this topology is that if the bus fails all communications are down.

A Ring topology consists of every node has two branches to it, a receiving branch and a sending branch. As the name implies all nodes are connected in a ring. The advantage is that it rarely suffers from bottlenecks and is easily implemented. The disadvantage is that if the branch between nodes fails then the network is down.

A star topology consists of a central node that receives a transmission from any peripheral node and retransmits that signal to all the nodes including the original broadcaster. The advantage is that if you lose one node the rest of the network still works. The disadvantage is if you lose the central node the network is down. It is also prone to bottlenecks.

Ethernet is a Protocol standard fro transmitting 10 mbps. Xerox originally developed it. An Ethernet LAN utilizes RG-58 Coax, Category 5 UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) and or Fiber Optics.

An advantage to this network is that is usually very fast, probably the least expensive to implement and extremely reliable. The disadvantage is the setup can be difficult.

Token ring networks pass a token around the network. If the peripheral has the token it can transmit its signal. The token only sits on the peripheral for a limited amount of time.

The advantage is that network traffic is predictable meaning that it can be calculated how long it takes a token to pass through the network. It makes it ideal for factory automation. The disadvantage is that if the sending device fails its sending device may continue to circle the frame essentially locking up the network. There is error handling in place for such things but this puts a lot of traffic on the network to monitor this type of thing. This network is expensive and is not as fast as Ethernet.

Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FIDDI) is used as the high-speed backbone of most large networks. It has the greatest bandwidth and allows for the longest runs. Its primarily transmission media is Fiber Optics but in certain instances can include copper.

The advantage of FIDDI is that is does not emit electrical signals so it cannot easily be tapped. It is immune to EMI and RFI. Unlike Copper, which limits the distance between stations, Fiber can exist between stations approximately miles apart using multimode fiber and longer fore single mode. The disadvantage of FIDDI is that it is costly to install and maintain.

Wireless Networking utilizes radio frequencies to connect two devices. The advantage is no wiring needs to be in place to connect to the network. The big disadvantage it is not secure and you are open to Hacking.

Custom writing service can write essays on Date Rape

She was awake now and completely oblivious to what had occurred the night before. As she sat up, she could still feel the affects of the alcohol that she had consumed at the party last night. She did not recognize the room that she was in and she wondered why she did not have any clothes on. As she looked to the clock on the bed stand, she noticed that it was almost noon. She got up, collected her clothes and headed for the bathroom. While she was in there, Eddie, her good friend entered the room. Eddie was a senior at the University of California. He was a star wide receiver on the football team and he was also the president of his fraternity. He had broad shoulders, a perfectly toned body, and a very handsome face. Eddie was considered a big catch for any girl. He was "Mr. Popular" yet, he was a very big player with all of the ladies.

Thinking that she had gone, he proceeded to make a phone call to one of his friends, bragging about how he had slept with Sarah the night before. Sarah dropped her brush when she heard him say this. Eddie stopped talking on the phone and walked over to the bathroom. She quickly gathered herself and opened the door when he knocked.

"I thought you had left," explained Eddie.

"No, I just woke up and came in here to get cleaned up before I went home," replied Sarah. She decided that she was going to pretend that she did not hear him and that she had no idea about what had happened the night before.

"How are you feeling this morning," said Eddie as he pretended to care. "You sure did drink a lot at the party last night."

"I feel alright. Thanks for taking care of me."

"No, problem," he replied with a faint smirk.

"I do have one question though," she said, holding back the tears, "How did I end up back here? Why didn't you just take me home last night?"

"You couldn't find your keys so I thought that you could just stay here."

"Well, thanks again. I'll see you around." She closed the door behind her and burst into tears. All she wanted to do was go back to her own dorm room and take a shower.

After she got out of the shower she went into her room and noticed that Amy, her roommate was on the phone with Eddie. They were planning on the three of us going to a party that night. I just walked in and laid on my bed. My mind was racing, I had so many questions. All I wanted to know was the truth about last night. Did we sleep together? Did he rape me? What really happened?

Amy got off the phone and told me of the plans that she had made for that evening. She also told me that Eddie said that I got really trashed last night. That was my big question though, "How much did I actually drink?"

Amy noticed that I was not paying attention and she asked what was wrong.

"Well, I'm not really sure about what happened last night," Sarah exclaimed.

"Eddie said that the party was awesome and that you both drank quiet a lot. How much did you drink?" she asked.

"I'm not sure. I think I only had four cups from the keg and that wouldn't have made me incoherent. I think that Eddie put something into my drink because I do not remember anything. All I know is that I woke up this morning in Eddie's bed without any clothes on." Sarah was in tears as she told her story to Amy.

"Are you sure that you guys had sex?" Amy asked.

"I heard him talking to one of his friends on the phone this morning while I was in the bathroom. He was bragging that he had got me into his bed." Sarah was crying even worse now and Amy had come over to comfort her friend.

"Do you know if he used protection?"

"I don't know? I have no idea about what happened. I don't remember going upstairs or anything along the lines of the sex that we had."

"What do you want to do now? Do you want to go to the hospital and check for diseases and pregnancies? Do you want to talk to Eddie and ask him any questions that you have?" Amy was very concerned about Sarah because she had never seen her this upset before and she was scared about any diseases that she may have acquired..

"I definitely do not want to talk to Eddie. I wouldn't know what to say and I hate him right now. Let's just go to the hospital and see if there is anything wrong with me?"

After several hours at the hospital, Sarah and Amy returned back to there dorm room with a sigh of relief. She found out that he did use a condom after all. Therefore, she was not pregnant or infected with any sexually transmitted diseases. However, Eddie is not very lucky because the doctors discovered a drug that was in her blood. They concluded that Eddie slipped this into her drink while they were at the party.

Sarah opted not to press charges against Eddie. Instead, she is going to make sure that everyone is aware about the situation that occurred. Sarah is also going to join a group that talks to young women about date rape. She will help others in the healing process and also speak out in the effort to prevent further incidents from occurring.
