Sojourner Truth is one of history's most well known abolitionists. She was born a slave named Isabella Baumfree in 177. She was the first black woman to speak out against slavery. However, one of her most famous speeches was, "Ain't I a Woman?" which focused on the rights and equality of black and whites women in the United States. Baumfree was born a slave in Ulster County, New York. She was freed in 188 under a New York law that banned slavery.
