Since I have been on the road in Europe, there has been a new story every night about a potential WHITE LION reunion for next year. Since I have always been a man of facts rather than rumors, heres whats REALLY going on.

Newspaper Radio Host Proclaims He Has Suicide Video - Oct. 6, 00
Robert Farley of the St. Petersburg Times reports a Chicago man says he has exclusive video of the much-hyped HELL ON EARTH performance Saturday night, including crazy footage that purports to show a sickly-looking man commiting suicide through some sort of asphyxiation.
But Shane Bugbee isnt necessarily buying that its real.
Bugbee, 4, said he has been interviewing HELL ON EARTH leader Billy Tourtelot during the past three days and plans to share what he has learned during his two-hour Internet radio program at noon today on www.radiofreesatan.com
Bugbee said he has two videos, one of the bands performance and another of something that looks crazy and appears to show a man commiting suicide.

This Friday, at 000, Team HAMMERFALL will battle the Disco Babes in the nationally syndicated TV4 show Fortet. Watch us go through various strenuous, complicated, disgusting and terrifying cells in our quest for the gold at the end of the rainbow (well, at the end of the courtyard, anyway...). In case you didnt know, Fortet is a gameshow of sorts, but it was hard and much more difficult than I imagined going in. Most importantly, however, it was fun as hell! More about this next week, after the episode has aired.
Other news first, a correction from last update. The special box set will not be in the shape of a shield. The production time was too long, meaning the product wouldnt be ready in time, so we decided to make it a standard rectangular box with the shield on the cover instead. KORN New Album Pushed Back A Week - Oct. 6, 00
KORN have pushed back the projected release date of their sixth album, Take a Look in the Mirror, to November 5 through Epic Records. The albums first single, Right Now, is due to hit U.S. radio outlets during the coming days.
According to the bands official web site, the forthcoming album will contain between 10 to 1 tracks… Drums and bass tracks have both been laid and finished. The guitar tracks were being finished on the night of September 5. Jonathan [Davis] is currently writing lyrics as you read this, and has been working from 800 p.m. every night till early into the next morning.
The self-produced CD is the follow-up to the Grammy-winning 00 album Untouchables, which debuted at No. on The Billboard 00 and has sold 1.4 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.

BRUJERIA Confirm Two More Shows - Oct. 6, 00
BRUJERIA, the extreme metal project led by former FEAR FACTORY guitarist Dino Cazares (a.k.a. El Asesino), have announced two more shows later this month.

Also included are a lot of extra and bonus features, such as bootleg footage filmed at Zeche Carl in Essen, Germany on November 1, 00, Gagarin Club, Athens, Greece on October 0, 00, and La Locomotive in Paris, France on November 1, 00. Updated THE HAUNTED Rejoined By Original Singer! - Oct. 6, 00
Swedish high-energy thrashers THE HAUNTED have officially parted ways with vocalist Marco Aro and have replaced him with his predecessor, the groups original frontman Peter Dolving (MARY BEATS JANE, THE PETER DOLVING BAND). Check out a new band photo at this location.
The rock just does it for me! Peter writes on his web site. OK, its official. Ill be joining THE HAUNTED again. Marco wanted to be a bricklayer and Im getting my second kid so it seems a perfect thing for this time in my life (doing the DIY-thing really has you hanging by the skin of your teeth financially...). I joined the band for a couple of shows this summer and it worked out great, so Im really looking forward to writing, recording and getting back out on the road with the band again. THE PETER DOLVING BAND will continue. We are recording the new album this winter and well tour when Im not out with THE HAUNTED. As far as the NEW MARY BEATS JANE album, the songs are almost done and we begin rehearsing for the studio within the next couple of weeks. Holy shit, Ill be working hard over the next three years...
Being back in [THE HAUNTED] feels awesome, he added in an official press release. I hope Marco gets a good life outside the music business. Hes done one hell of a job, and has earned my deepest respect.
THE HAUNTED guitarist Patrik Jensen commented, I was very sad to see Marco leave the band. However, I fully respect him for following his heart on what he felt needed to be done. We wish both him, and his family, all the best! We will definitely miss having him in the band. At the same time, I am very grateful to welcome Peter back into the THE HAUNTED. I think we all, including Marco, agree on that Peter is the perfect choice to pick up where Marco left off!
THE HAUNTED have fulfilled their contractual obligations to Earache Records and are expected to sign a new record deal during the coming months. The groups last album, One Kill Wonder, was released this past February.

Polish black/death metallers BEHEMOTH have parted ways with session guitarist Havok and are currently seeking a replacement. Interested parties can contact the group at nergal6@poczta.onet.pl.
Comments guitarist/vocalist Nergal, Havok decided to part his ways with BEHEMOTH. Lately hes been struggling [with] some personal problems. As a result he lost interest in this band, and the whole extreme metal genre he simply burned out. We spent together absolutely killer time touring all over the world and recording two [of] BEHEMOTHs best albums. We wish him all the best. American tour and the show in Israel will be the last thing well do together. Later we will focus on writing the new stuff and eventually finding a replacement.
BEHEMOTH will be teaming up with SIX FEET UNDER, SKINLESS, and THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER for The Unnatural Born Killers Tour 00, which launches in Tampa on October 16.
Says Nergal, Needless to say, we are extremely excited bout this tour. Especially after what weve experienced there earlier this year. Playing in front of thousands of people, and support such excellent acts like DANZIG, HALFORD and DEICIDE was a thrilling experience. Century Media did a great job bringing us over to U.S. for these tours, but this time its gonna be the longest and most demanding one weve had. Well be on the bill with SIX FEET UNDER, and afterwards will be doing extra shows, that should be confirmed in the upcoming days.
Due to immigration difficulties, we couldnt bring to U.S. our new bassist Orion, which I find as a great loss coz hes excellent stage performer and highly skilled musician. But thanks to Istvan from California-situated black metal band RISE, we will have a replacement for that tour and Im sure he will do fine. I promise that the next time u will all witness the full line up, the strongest weve had!
BEHEMOTHs last show in support of the Zos Kia Cultus album will take place at the Barbi club in Tel Aviv, Israel on January . Support at the gig will come from SALEM. Shortly after returning from Israel, Nergal, Inferno and Orion will begin work on material for their next album, titled Demigod.
We still keep ourselves extremely busy, says Nergal Its pretty intense period for us but I can promise that new songs will be the best thing weve done ever. To be honest we already did main themes for 5 new tracks and it all sounds awesome! Its technical, intense and melodic but also diverse and heavy. These songs have BEHEMOTH elements in it, but we also try to cross the boundaries, make things in a fresh way. We are thinking for ourselves and not conforming nor bending to any rules, trying to keep the highest standard of the music we deliver.

SENTENCED Embroiled In Nazi Controversy - Oct. 5, 00
Finlands SENTENCED have been accused of being secret Nazi sympathizers after penning a song in support of their local hockey team which contains lyrics that allegedly include the motto used by the Hitler Youth organization (Hitler Jugend) during the 10s.
This past summer, SENTENCED were approached by the representatives of the Oulu-based hockey team Oulun Kärpät about composing a Finnish-language track for inclusion on a CD collection of songs written and recorded in support of the team.
SENTENCEDs contribution, titled Routasydän, was composed by guitarist Miika Tenkula and the lyrics were written by guitarist Sami Lopakka. Included in the text was the line (in Finnish) Sisu, veri ja kunnia, which roughly translates to courage, blood and honor.
Shortly after the song was completed, an Oulu resident with an apparent ax to grind wrote to the local newspaper to complain that the phrase blood and honor (in German Blut und Ehre) was also used by the Hitler Jugend organization as their motto, suggesting that SENTENCED were secret Nazi sympathizers. A public uproar followed, eventually leading Oulun Kärpät representatives to ask Lopakka to change the offending lyrics, a request that was immediately denied. As a result, the team decided to stop playing the song at their ice hall during their home games.
SENTENCED, who claim to be completely against Nazism and racism of any kind, were shocked and disappointed by the teams decision to pull the song.

Next, for Oulun Kärpät, its always been important to have a lot of local players on their own team in other words, their own blood. And third, when you are playing [on a team and representing your town], you are playing because of honor. When we were doing this song, we couldnt even think that somebody would think like that! Everyone who knows us knows that we have absolutely nothing to do with Nazism and shit like that.
SENTENCED are planning to enter the studio in the spring to begin recording their next album for a late summer 004 release.

TOMMY THAYER Says He Showed ACE FREHLEY How To Play Early KISS Riffs Before First Reunion Tour - Oct. 5, 00
KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer recently revealed to Oregon State Daily Barometer Online that the groups original guitarist, Ace Frehley, needed Thayers assistance in remembering Frehleys signature guitar riffs in preparation for the bands first reunion tour.
They asked me to help out, Thayer explained. I really enjoyed it. It was a cool experience. It was kind of bizarre and ironic. That stuff influenced me when I was learning how to play guitar. We both got a kick out of it. Ace gave me props and we both had fun.
Last year at a private concert in Jamaica was the first time Thayer wore white, black and silver on stage with the other members of KISS his guitar in hand just like in his childhood dreams. SUICIDAL TENDENCIES Frontman Explains The Bands Decision To Play The Resistance Tour - Oct. 5, 00
SUICIDAL TENDENCIES frontman Mike Muir has posted the following message to the bands official web site
The next tour for the band will be the Resistance Tour which is sponsored by Eastpak, the back-pack company.
Last year was the second year for the tour and [SUICIDAL TENDENCIES] was asked to headline this years edition.
There will be 18 shows throughout Europe. The tour is now completely booked. For those that emailed and asked, the band didnt have anything to do with where the shows were booked, etc.
Were still in the process of finding out more info on how the tour will run, but it gives the band a great opportunity to play some good venues and have a well-promoted tour.
The bad side is that these 18 shows will be continuous, no days off. This will definitely take a lot of fun out of the tour and add to the stress level. Usually those days off are looked forward to if you get a little under the weather or to recuperate from nagging injuries, and off course give the voice and throat a rest.
Especially considering that the weather could be quite cold (especially for us Californians), and then going to the hot venues, and then back to the cold, etc. can take a toll.
Also, the band usually stays in hotels and travels during the day. This tour there will be no hotels and we will have to travel after the shows, which no one likes. We have our way of doing things, because we want each and every show to be as good as it possibly can be.
The promoters offered to leave us off a few of the shows, but we knew that the people that lived near the shows we didnt play wouldnt be able to understand so we agreed to do them all.
We also hope to set up some cool things at some of the shows, like meet and greets with the band before the shows etc. Well post more on that later as we have more details.
Some other interesting notes about this tour...The bands will be sharing buses. The bands will be using the same equipment (except for guitars), and have the same roadies/ techs working for each band.
There is as many as six bands on each show, and this will allow for each band to go straight on and not to have a set change for different equipment.
Another reason why this tour is important, is that hopefully it will go really good and set the band up for doing their own tour next year in Europe when the new [SUICIDAL TENDENCIES] CD comes out, and we can have a lot more control on what goes on, where we play, and hopefully do some really cool things along with the tour.
For those of you outside of Europe, the new [SUICIDAL TENDENCIES] CD will start a worldwide tour and we plan on making it back on a U.S. tour, but also South America, Australia/New Zealand, and of course many of the countries that we have not yet had a chance to play, like Russia, Greece, Poland, and many others.
Hopefully everything will run smooth and the Resistance tour will be a great experience for all the bands and everyone that attends. For those that cant, we plan on filming a bunch of footage from the [SUICIDAL TENDENCIES] shows, the gigs, the people, and behind-the-scenes footage from the bus and the band. More on this later.

SYSTEMATIC Part Ways With PAUL BOSTAPH, Back DEE SNIDER At SCHWARZENEGGER Rally - Oct. 5, 00
San Francisco Bay Area metallers SYSTEMATIC have parted ways with drummer Paul Bostaph (ex-SLAYER) and have replaced him with Bostaphs predecessor, Shaun Bannon.
Says vocalist/guitarist Tim Narducci, First, as far as all of the rumors go, yes Paul did have knee surgery. We wanted to wait and see how things would go for Paul and his recovery before we could move forward and comment on the situation.
Unfortunately, things have been slower than anticipated and collectively we all decided (including Paul) it would be best for us to find a replacement to go forward with business for SYSTEMATIC.
For every door that closes, another opens. We have been jamming with Mr. Shaun Bannon... Holy shit! Talk about not missing a step! It has been an amazing couple of weeks and we are very proud to have Shaun back in the drummers seat again. He was well missed!
Other news.... well we got a call to be Dee Sniders backing band at the Arnold Schwarzenneger rally this Sunday, Oct. 5th at the State Capitol the California [to perform the gubernatorial candidates official campaign anthem, TWISTED SISTERs Were Not Gonna Take It]. We said fuck yeah! Ive listened to TWISTED SISTER since I was in 7th grade. I just wish we were doing You Cant Stop Rock and Roll. Should be fun as hell!
Last... We decided to do a one-off show in a neighboring town of ours. Friday, Oct. 17th @ Pine St. Bar & Grill in Livermore. I hung out with [former SYSTEMATIC bassist] Nick St. Denis a few weeks ago over a few beers and a Niners game and threw out the idea of his new band PRIMATE and us doing a gig together. Nuff said, its gonna fucking RULE!!!! Also my little bros band AFTER THE SILENCE locals STARCH and THE VENTING MACHINE will also be jammin. I cant wait! So be there!!!

SEPULTURA Frontman Says His Band Is Better Off On A Smaller Record Label - Oct. 5, 00
SEPULTURA frontman Derrick Green recently spoke to Apeshit.org about the groups switch in record labels from Roadrunner Records to Germany-based SPV prior to the release of their latest effort, Roorback.
[SPV is] a smaller company so its easier to get a hold of people and get things done, Derrick said. You dont have to go through a hundred people in order to get something very simple, an idea, across. At SPV, you talk to two people and it gets done. They work their ass off. They have no past with SEPULTURA so theyre not trying to create something that happened years ago. Theyre trying to create a future. They have a lot of confidence in the band so thats something that is a 100% turnaround. They work their ass off like we work our ass off so it feels like were working all together. With our old label [Roadrunner Records], its just a lot of people working there. Its totally turned into something where they forgot what its all about. We think that its about them. They forget that its about the music.
[Roadrunner have] been [trying to capitalize on more mainstream-sounding bands] for years, he continued. Theyve been really exploiting a lot of different bands and theyve pretty much taken all the things that theyve worked for years and just robbing them straight up. Their merchandise, their music, just keeping it for themselves. And it happens all the time. You hear about bands getting robbed all the time and its true, especially with them [Roadrunner Records]. Theyve built up this catalog and then they sold it to a major. So now theyre lost for ideas and creativity and they have a bunch of crap. They have a few good things and theyre hoping that they pan out. And its not at all where they started. Its like in another dimension. Its like NICKELBACK...thats what makes the money for them now.
Luckily, we only had one more album to do [after 001s Nation]. We had the option to leave or make another album. With Nation, [Roadrunner] didnt even promote it really and they wanted us to make another album, go right back into the studio. Were not going to pour our heart into an album that youre not even going to promote for a second time. Forget about it. Were better off with you guys do what you want to do and well do what we want to do. No hard feelings but weve learned a lot. We learned never to do something silly like that again (laughs). And not to sign to a big label just because they are a big label...thats the worst mistake that bands make, unfortunately. They think Yeah, its going to be great! But in most cases, all those big labels are suffering and the smaller ones are doing very well. And the smaller labels have the best bands now anyways. Thats where I want to be. I want to be where you can survive, not where theyre going to kill us. You should have integrity and respect for what you do, that should make you survive not selling yourselves out for one minute of glory and then its over. SEPULTURAs always been able to survive.
SEPULTURAs latest effort, Roorback, has sold 10,60 copies in the U.S. after five weeks of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The groups previous album, 001s Nation, has shifted 6,065 units, while 18s Against has achieved a sales tally of 1,856.
Roorback was released in the U.S. on August 6 and moved 4,186 copies during its first week of release, a figure significantly lower than the 10,000+ first-week sales tally of Nation and the 18,000+ figure achieved by Against.

DARKANE Guitarist Undergoes Surgery - Oct. 5, 00
DARKANE guitarist Klas Ideberg underwent surgery for a slipped disc in his back last Thursday (October ). He has had an evil back pain [for the past] months and had to sit down on the stage during DARKANEs show in Tel-Aviv last week, the band reveal. When he came back from Israel, he was immediately hospitalized. Klas is having a lot of pain right now but is looking forward to get home in a few days and the fact that all this will come to an end.
DARKANE are planning on entering the studio shortly to begin recording their fourth CD, tentatively due in early 004 through Nuclear Blast Records.

IN FLAMES Recording Update - Oct. 5, 00
Swedens IN FLAMES have posted the following update to their official web site
Hello all, some news regarding the current recording of the follow up to [Reroute To Remain]. On Saturday the 7th of September we travelled to Denmark with buses filled with studio equipment, and our personal instruments, etc to start what will be next years IN FLAMES release, featuring Daniel Bergstrand [MESHUGGAH, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD] and Örjan Örnklo [ex-MISERY LOVES CO.] as producers.
Everything looks great here the equipment is hooked up and working well, five songs are done on rhythm guitar, and on Monday [October 6] well start laying down bass guitar, and then move on to vocals.
We have two studios set up, one for guitar and electronics and one for bass and vocals, so the recording process is very smooth.
For relaxation we have a fully equipped spa area with a sauna, a jacuzzi, a pool and a tanning bed, so whenever there is time for getting our acts together, we just go there....
And to make things even better, we have our personal assistant Magnus with us and our chef also named Magnus so we get excellent food each day and some great assistance...
Right now we have our magnificent webmaster Fredrik visiting, and some pictures will be uploaded soon to give u a small view on what were doing, and well try to keep you updated more throughout this month, with pictures and info....
We were also supposed to have some webcam pictures for you, but Fredrik got a little too much under his belt yesterday and couldnt understand the procedure, so maybe next time....

As previously reported, IN FLAMES forthcoming CD will surface through Nuclear Blast Records in Europe, with whom the group have two albums remaining under the terms of their present contract. IN FLAMES are currently in negotiations with several labels about a possible North American record deal. More information will be made available soon.

Suicide Concert Halted By Web Attack - Oct. 5, 00
A concert by Florida shock-rockers HELL ON EARTH which was to feature an on-stage suicide of a terminally ill person was postponed Saturday because of problems with the planned broadcast of the event over the Internet, according to The Associated Press.
The bands web site was attacked Saturday evening by a flood of data from computers somewhere in Hong Kong, said Jason Trindade, the operator of a San Diego-based technology company that hosts the site.
Theres been a huge amount of traffic which causes the server to lock up, Trindade said. We cant handle that.
HELL ON EARTH leader Billy Tourtelot said Saturday morning the concert and suicide would take place that night in two separate, undisclosed locations in St. Petersburg. He wouldnt give any more details on the venues.
Trindade said he was told by Tourtelot that the performance would be postponed, possibly until next weekend.
Several attempts to reach Tourtelot on Saturday night were not immediately successful.
The band asked fans to visit its web page for the performance, but no video was shown. Instead, a link to another site appeared, as did the following message Next week the show will go on.
Trindade said the site was victimized by a denial-of-service attack, which is designed to hamper or shut down a computer system by flooding it with huge amounts of data. He did not immediately know how the site would address the problem.
Emergency dispatchers in St. Petersburg and Pinellas County reported they had no calls reporting a suicide nearly two hours after the event was to have taken place. In St. Petersburg, police were on alert for calls of a suicide or suspicious death, and for the flood of calls from media outlets tracking events.

BRUJERIA Support Acts For California Gig Announced - Oct. 4, 00
The support acts have been announced for BRUJERIAs first-ever show ever on the West Coast on October 6 at The Ventura Theater in Ventura, California. Opening for BRUJERIA at the gig will be BAD ACID TRIP (who have a CD coming out through SYSTEM OF A DOWN frontman Serj Tankians Serjical Strike label in 004), LEPRA (underground death metal from Los Angeles) and EDEN IN FLAMES (blasting grind from Ventura). Tickets are $0.00 and are available through Ticketmaster and the Ventura Theater box office.
As previously reported, BRUJERIA is the extreme metal project led by former FEAR FACTORY guitarist Dino Cazares (a.k.a. El Asesino). Joining Cazares in the groups current lineup are vocalist El Brujo, NAPALM DEATH bassist Shane Embury (a.k.a. Hongo), and drummer Nick Barker (a.k.a. Hong Jr., DIMMU BORGIR, ex-CRADLE OF FILTH).
BRUJERIAs previously announced show at Allens Theatre in Southgate, California on September 7 was cancelled last month after the city of South Gate as well at its police department would not allow the BRUJERIA show to go on, according to an official statement from the group.

ARCH ENEMY Cancel Remaining NEVERMORE European Dates - Oct. 4, 00
Swedens ARCH ENEMY have been forced to cancel the remainder of their European tour with NEVERMORE.
The following is an official statement on the matter from ARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott
Hello to all ARCH ENEMY fans hoping to see us in Austria, Hungary, Italy and Switzerland with NEVERMORE. I am very sorry to say we will not be playing the last few shows. Unfortunately our tour bus became infested with a plague of bloodsucking bugs, (seriously!) causing several band and crew to become sick not to mention exhausted from lack of sleep......
Shit happens, and you are always prepared for the worst, but weve had real bad luck with our health on this tour of us got sick in Germany.....and now this. When we got to London we decided we must continue, but even though the bus has now been partially disinfected, we were all forced to agree after the show in Ludwigsburg last night that we could not go on. We have to get home and get well before we go back out on tour in America next week.
Although we have been supporting NEVERMORE on this tour, we know many fans wanted to see us, so no-one is more disappointed than the band not to be able to play these last few shows. All the dates so far on the tour have been great for us in fact we have enjoyed them so much that plans are coming together for ARCH ENEMY to do a full headline tour in Europe in February 004, so keep logged on to our website for details (we should have something finalised in a few weeks). Also we are discussing with our label Century Media to have sent an ARCH ENEMY collectors item to fans who keep their tickets from these next shows and send it in to the label. Watch this space for details of that in the next few days.
We want to thank NEVERMORE and their crew for the opportunity to do this tour. They are an awesome band and we wish them luck in the future.
Finally for now, all of us in the band are truly sorry to have to miss these dates, but we will be back fit and supercharged soon to give you a show to remember!!

Former MACHINE HEAD Guitarist In The Studio With PUDDLE OF MUDD - Oct. 4, 00
Former MACHINE HEAD/SOULFLY guitarist Logan Mader recently recorded and mixed a song for PUDDLE OF MUDD called Freak Of The World. The track was one of more than cuts PUDDLE OF MUDD laid down for their upcoming album, Life On Display, due on November 5 through Interscope Records.
In other news, Logan has set NEW BLACK as the name of his new collaboration with Lucas Banker (formerly of LIFE OF AGONY singer Keith Caputos solo band). In this venture, Logan is returning to his heavier roots, and at the same time, incorporating what he has learned from his early days as a guitarist to present, according to a post on his web site. The group recently finished mixing a demo in Amsterdam with beatmaster extraordinaire JUNKIE XL and will begin shopping around for a record deal before the end of the month.
In the meantime, Logan is keeping busy producing and mixing a variety of different projects, including a six-song demo for the L.A.-based band NUMIRA, a two-song demo for the Texas based band, DILATE, and an 11-song CD for the Texan metal band WARTORN.

A brand new IMAGIKA demo track, titled Last Battalion, has been posted online at this location. Last Battalion features the talents of the San Francisco power/thrash metal groups new vocalist Norman Skinner (MACHINE CALLED MAN, TRAMOTANE) who replaced longtime singer David Michael last month.
IMAGIKAs fourth album is due in early 004 through an as-yet-undisclosed label. The band, who were previously signed to Germanys Massacre Records, released their last CD, And So It Burns, in October 000.
